U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Drive Tahoe Truckee success
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif.— Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage announced in partnership with U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and local businesses, approximately 3,000 toys were collected to benefit families in the Tahoe-Truckee region this holiday season.
The collection drive was co-sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and organized by Elaine Durazo, Toys for Tots regional coordinator and sales associate affiliated with the company’s Tahoe City Cobblestone office.
The toys were collected by business throughout the Tahoe/Truckee region during November and December and distributed to approximately 425 local families with 885 children.
In addition, more than $8,000 was collected for the organization. As part of the campaign, several community parties were held to raise money and collect toys, including mixer events at Zano’s Family Italian & Pizzeria and Sunnyside Resort, a game night at Rosie’s Café, and a holiday party and concert by the North Tahoe High School Jazz Band Ensemble at River Ranch including Moody’s Bistro offering special discounts to guests bearing toys.
“This was one of our most successful years ever for Toys for Tots in Tahoe and Truckee,” said Durazo. “We received a tremendous amount of support in our local communities and many local businesses and organizations once again stepped up to help. The generosity was heartwarming and it’s wonderful to know we were able to bring so many smiles and help hundreds of families that really needed some extra support this holiday season. The Toys for Tots program continues to grow each year and I’m looking forward to seeing all that we’ll accomplish with our 2014 campaign.”
The annual Toys for Tots and One Warm Coat holiday collection was the 27th consecutive year that Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has supported the efforts in partnership with the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
In all, 45 Northern California Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices throughout Northern California participated in the Toys for Tots campaign, raising a total of more than 6,200 toys.
