West Shore Association hosting summer kickoff
Summer is officially here prompting the opening of Lake Tahoe’s West Shore this Memorial Day weekend from Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City to Emerald Bay.
In Tahoe City, West Shore Association will be hosting its 12th annual Opening Day at the Lake event with restaurant deck opening parties and live music at select businesses along West Lake Boulevard starting Friday.
Beaches will be open for recreation and camping at select sites, restaurants will begin summer operations and a variety of museums will begin offering tours.
“I’m absolutely excited about this weekend,” said Marynell Hartnett, WSA board member and marketing chair. “We created this event to really signify the start of summer.”
Gatekeepers Museum & Lakeside Park will start daily tours on Friday with Ehrman Mansion at Sugar Pine Point State Park and Vikingsholm in Emerald Bay beginning tours on Saturday.
Tahoe Maritime Museum will be host a launch party on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with daily operation beginning Saturday.
Beaches opening on the west shore include William Kent Beach, Meeks Bay, Skylandia Beach, Kaspian Recreation Area, Chambers Landing Beach, Emerald Bay Beach and dog-friendly Hurricane Bay Beach. Overnight camping is available at Kaspian Recreation Area and William Kent Beach.
