Woman killed in fire at Lake Tahoe-area mobile home park
STATELINE, Nev. — A woman is dead after she was pulled from a fire early Friday, Nov. 13, at Ponderosa Mobile Home Park on Kingsbury Grade.
Efforts to revive the woman failed after she was pulled from the burning singlewide mobile home by Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The fire was first reported around 12:30 a.m. at Ponderosa Drive.
According to Eric Guevin, public information officer for Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District, the woman was in her 60s. She was at home when the fire started and “she succumbed to fire-related effects.”
“We’re not sure whether it was smoke inhalation; there were burns on her body,” he said, also noting that resuscitation efforts failed on scene.
Detectives, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District and state fire marshals were examining the wreckage on Friday morning.
“We had a really good response to the fire and we were able to attack it aggressively,” Guevin said. “The fire crews did a great job.”
Guevin added that early notification is key when reporting fires, as is having working fire alarms.
“It’s a very important life-saving measure,” he said.
The woman’s name will be released pending notification of kin.
