Long, Betty

Yuba City resident Betty Long died Nov. 23, 2007, in Sutter Roseville Medical Center at the age of 80.

Mrs. Long was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Inglewood, Calif., and graduated from West Lake High School and the University of Southern California, where she earned her teaching credential.

Mrs. Long married Ned Long in 1948. She worked as a school teacher and librarian before her retirement. She moved to Yuba City a year ago.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Darby of Portland, Ore.; a son, James Long of Tahoe City; daughters, Katie Stewart of Yuba City and Patti Long of Clio, Calif.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 26, 2007, in Yuba City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society, Gate Keepers Museum, P.O. Box 6141, Tahoe City, CA 96145.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.
