Lottery for Basin building permits

Sun staff report

Just 50 building permits are expected to be available to Tahoe Basin builders in Placer County for the coming calendar year.

The county will soon accept applications for the permits, and if more than 50 applications are received, a lottery will determine the winners.

To qualify for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency allocation lottery, a building permit application, including appropriate TRPA plans for a TRPA-approved buildable site, must be submitted at the Placer County Building Department, 565 West Lake Blvd., Tahoe City. Applications will be accepted from 8 a.m. Jan. 7 through 4 p.m. on Jan. 11.

If the number of applications exceeds the number of available allocations, a drawing will be held at 11 a.m. on Jan. 22 in the Lakeview Room at the Fairway Community Center, 330 Fairway Drive, Tahoe City.

Contact the Placer County Building Department, Tahoe City Office, at 581-6200 or by fax at 581-6204, or call Allen Breuch at 581-6284 to obtain details regarding the application submittal requirements.
