The Associated Press

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man accused to torching a cabin and vandalizing several others in the Angora Lakes Resort area near South Lake Tahoe.

Authorities say the cabin was completely destroyed in the Wednesday morning blaze, and four others were burglarized or otherwise damaged.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect, 31-year-old Peter Benjamin Manista, fled after an arson investigator accompanied by the cabin owner saw him at the scene later that day.

Manista was found and arrested about an hour later.

Authorities describe Manista as a transient from South Lake Tahoe. He was booked into jail on suspicion of arson, burglary, vandalism and obstructing an officer.
