SOUTH LAKE TAHOE “-A 20-year-old Washoe Valley man has been arrested and charged in the Jan. 7 robbery of El Dorado Savings and Loan on Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe, authorities said.

Joseph Brun, 20, was arrested on an unrelated warrant at Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort on Jan. 9 by El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies, said South Lake Tahoe police Detective Jeff Roberson.

An investigation, including surveillance video and photos published online and in the newspaper, led to the robbery charge, Roberson said.

Brun was officially charged with the robbery Thursday afternoon.

“The media was instrumental in getting him identified,” said South Lake Tahoe Police Lt. Marty Hale.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

The bank robbery occurred at about 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 7.

Police would not say whether a weapon was involved or how much money was taken.
