Man missing after fall into Truckee River

Staff Reports

Nevada County and Washoe County sheriff’s officers halted intensive searches of the Truckee River below Farad Tuesday afternoon, after swift water rescue teams failed to find a man who disappeared into the river’s turbulent waters Monday night.

“We’ve scaled down the main search operation because of swift, hazardous water,” Nevada County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tim Hargrove said.

Authorities said four Reno residents were jumping from a rock near Farad into the river when 24-year-old Brian Przybyla disappeared beneath the water and never resurfaced.

Officers from Nevada County and Washoe County participated in the search, and were aided by California Highway Patrol’s Helicopter 20.
