Mandeville, James J.

James J. Mandeville, 98, passed into heaven on October 11, 2007. He was born in Floriston, Calif., on August 22, 1909, the third of six children of Sidney James and Mary Mandeville.

Jim’s family moved to Truckee in 1910 and to Tahoe Vista at Lake Tahoe in 1914, where he made his home. He had an active and varied career as a woodsman and a truck driver. He was an avid fisherman, having drowned worms in nearly every creek and lake in the area.

Jim married Margaret “Peggy” McClure in June of 1937 after a 17-day courtship. This year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary amid family and friends.

Jim has been an active Christian for nearly 50 years and has left a legacy of a life well lived for many to emulate.

Jim leaves his wife, Peg; three children, Jay Mandeville and wife, V. Ann of Portland Ore., Janice Atkin and husband, Doug, of Reno, Phillip Mandeville and wife, RoseMarie, of Cerritos, Calif.; son-in-law Albert Eberhart and wife, Carol, of Placerville, Calif.; a sister, Vesta Willson of Reno; 13 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. His four brothers preceded him in death. His daughter, Margy, also passed earlier.

A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Community Church, 8597 Lemmon Drive, Lemmon Valley, at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007.
