Manslaughter charge in road rage incident

TAHOE CITY ” A Truckee man accused of being involved in a road-rage incident that ended with the death of another man will stand trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge, not murder, a Placer County judge ruled.

Judge James Dawson set bail for Timothy George Brooks, 25, at $250,000 at a preliminary hearing Tuesday. He also ordered Brooks, who recently married a German citizen while traveling in Europe, to surrender any passports.

Brooks is accused of confronting Robert Lawrence Ash, 47, at a Tahoe City restaurant Aug. 17, after Ash allegedly cut Brooks off in traffic.

Sheriff’s officials testified the two men began fighting and Brooks allegedly stabbed Ash, then fled the scene. Brooks later turned himself in.
