TAHOE VISTA, Calif. andamp;#8212; There are few things in this life more relaxing, more therapeutic or more nourishing to the mind, body and soul than a massage. Deep tissue massage can reach the depths of tension, providing a soothing relief unlike any medical treatment. The flowing movement of Swedish massage will calm the busiest of people. There are so many different styles offering different outcomes andamp;#8212; the benefits are limitless. Walking into recently-opened North Lake Massage andamp; Skin Care in Tahoe Vista, itandamp;#8217;s immediately apparent this is where you come to relax. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer while you await your session of bliss. Sit on the porch overlooking Lake Tahoe and the neighboring nursery, which is sure to bloom a rainbow of colors this spring. Browse the local artwork adorning the incandescent, turquoise walls inside the quaint spa. Owners Kristin Pepin and Bethany Lambrecht have breathed every ounce of their energy into this new space, and the atmosphere is nothing short of welcoming, soothing and positive. Both women specialize in massage therapy, but each lends a hand in corresponding services within the spa and skin care domain that complete the business model. andamp;#8220;Weandamp;#8217;re very well balanced as business partners and with the services we offer,andamp;#8221; said Pepin andamp;#8212; a petite, yet athletically framed woman with a soft-spoken disposition and genuine nature. andamp;#8220;We both seem to work pretty well together,andamp;#8221; Pepinandamp;#8217;s business partner, Bethany Lambrecht accedes. andamp;#8220;We both do massage, but the fact she does Ashiatsu and Thai massage, and I do skin care and waxing creates a balance and even though we do some very different things, it all comes together in this one place.andamp;#8221; Before moving into the massage field in North Lake Tahoe six years ago, Pepin was working 80 hour weeks, 365 days out of the year, as an athletic trainer on the east coast. The grey skies were growing tiresome, the long hours tedious, and Pepin was poised for change. andamp;#8220;I wanted mountains nearby, a body of water nearby, and I didnandamp;#8217;t want to have to drive to either one of them,andamp;#8221; Pepin said. Pepin looked no further than Tahoe Vista, where she still resides within walking distance to her new spa on North Lake Blvd. The athlete and former trainer initially found herself working as a receptionist at a spa in Truckee, but she quickly gained the proper credentials to pursue a career as a masseuse. andamp;#8220;I still love my background andamp;#8212; it gives me different viewpoint to the body and I can help guide clients and let them know they do need to seek more medical attention or give them more background on what their injury may be,andamp;#8221; Pepin said. andamp;#8220;Iandamp;#8217;m able to see the muscle imbalance, feel it and help correct that.andamp;#8221;As Pepin worked her hands through different massage centers in North Lake Tahoe, she met a friend, fellow masseuse and future business partner, Bethany Lambrecht. As a Southern California native, Lambrecht spent most of her adolescence working with horses, both in the saddle and as an equine body worker, in which she massaged overworked horses to ease their throbbing muscle tissue. After attending training in equestrian sports therapy, Lambrecht pursued human massage therapy as well to achieve a balance and understanding of both horse and rider. andamp;#8220;Massage is very rewarding,andamp;#8221; Lambrecht said. andamp;#8220;When you have someone who comes in whether theyandamp;#8217;re an emotional wreck, stressed or in pain and you work on them and they come out and give you big hug and say they feel so much better, itandamp;#8217;s an amazing connection.andamp;#8221;Over the past four years, Pepin and Lambrecht continued to cross paths and were intrigued by each otherandamp;#8217;s different strengths. In addition to massage, Pepin brings Ashiatsu to the massage table. This form of deep tissue massage involves Pepin standing on top the table, her hands clasped to two overhead bars as she uses her feet, toes and body weight to work through the deepest kinks. This rare form of massage therapy is only available at one other spa in Truckee, and gives Pepin an edge on competition. Additionally, Lambrecht andamp;#8212; an easy going, athletic, humble beauty andamp;#8212; specializes in everything skin care related from facials to waxing, bringing an essential element to the new business andamp;#8212; North Lake Massage andamp; Skin Care. The duo has been working around the clock since November remodeling, painting and preparing for the March opening of their new spa, located in Tahoe Vista andamp;#8212; a hidden niche in Tahoe where they feel welcomed as the new business on the block. andamp;#8220;I love Tahoe Vista andamp;#8212; itandamp;#8217;s this untapped little nook and thereandamp;#8217;s so much here, itandamp;#8217;s such a lovely little town,andamp;#8221; Pepin said of her stomping grounds. andamp;#8220;Itandamp;#8217;s sat dormant for a while and now itandamp;#8217;s starting to spark up and thereandamp;#8217;s this really nice tight-knit community growing here.andamp;#8221;For now, Pepin and Lambrecht are going to star in this two woman show, but perhaps with the busy summer months and possible expansion of services, they will take on contracted therapists to help with the business. andamp;#8220;The options are limitless,andamp;#8221; Pepin said. andamp;#8220;Itandamp;#8217;s been a process, and weandamp;#8217;re so excited to get to this point … to truly help someone means the world.andamp;#8221;
