Mild weather this weekend

Dan Thrift/Sierra SunNick Hansen works out with the rest of his Tahoe Swim Club teammates Thursday at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center pool.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” A nice, fall-like weekend is in store for us with clear, cool nights and sunny, mild days.

Freezing temperatures are certainly a possibility over the weekend, bringing an end to growing season for parts of the South Shore, Truckee and Meyers, but other areas should be spared.

Expect bright sunshine through the weekend, with gusty winds on Friday and possibly Saturday.

Highs will warm each day into the mid 60s to mid 70s, with lows dropping into the 30s to mid 40s Friday night, and upper 20s to mid 40s Saturday and Sunday night, depending on location, with the east and north shores remaining warmer.

Well, after 10 years of living in South Lake Tahoe and taking weather observations, it is time for me to say good-bye to this beautiful region and head off to other adventures.

I will miss many in the community and wish everyone the very best. Please feel free to keep in touch, as my e-mail will not change.

I will be continuing with the National Weather Service in Spokane, Wash., so if you are traveling to the Inland Northwest, please feel free to contact me.
