Milder temperatures today and Tuesday as high pressure returns to the area

After a cool start this morning look for temperatures to rise into the upper 40s around the lake and in the mid 30s at the 8,000 foot resort level under mostly sunny skies.
Gusty northeast winds to 60 mph are forecast along the Sierra crest this morning while north winds to 10 to 15 mph can be expected at lake level. Lows tonight are projected to dip into the upper teens to lower 20s around the lake and in the mid to upper 20s in the upper elevations as a temperature inversion develops.
Partly cloudy skies and above normal high temperatures in the low to mid 50s are forecast on Tuesday as higher pressure aloft builds into the area. Normal high at South Lake Tahoe for this date are 49 while the low is 23.
Computer models are showing a return to cloudy and windier conditions by Wednesday as the jet stream sags south across the Pacific Northwest into Northern California.
