More afternoon showers, then drying out Wednesday
October 30, 2007
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” Another round of afternoon showers and thunderstorms can be expected as a weak upper low track across the area today. This smaller disturbance will result in less areal coverage of showers and precipitation than Monday’s downpours.
Daytime highs will climb into the mid 50s this afternoon under partly cloudy skies and isolated showers. Winds are expected to remain light, except near any showers or afternoon thunderstorms, where local gusts could exceed 40 mph.
Snow levels will stay generally above 8,000 feet, although some local accumulations of small hail or snow pellets are possible in the lower elevations.
Lows tonight will dip down into the upper 20s to lower 30s as skies clear overnight. Lingering moisture and light winds could result in areas of late-night and early-morning fog developing around the Basin, and especially near Truckee.
The early-morning fog will give way to partly cloudy skies on Wednesday, with highs warming back up into the mid and upper 50s. Mostly clear skies with slightly warmer days and cooler nights are forecast for the remainder of the week.
