More seasonal temperatures to return
October 25, 2007
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” The dominant high-pressure system over the Great Basin is finally weakening, as an upper trough of low pressure drops south from the Pacific northwest today. A weak upper low is forecast to pinch off the Northern California coast on Friday and drift southwest well offshore over the weekend.
The Tahoe area will see temperatures cooling off through Friday, with highs today in the mid to upper 60s, and then back to our seasonal normal readings in the mid 50s by Friday.
Overnight low temperatures will remain near average, bottoming out in the mid to upper 20s around the basin. Afternoon winds will kick in from the southwest at 15 to 20 mph, with local gusts to 30 mph creating rough conditions for area boaters.
Look for some clouds on Friday with a very weak cold front, otherwise dry conditions with variable winds to 15 mph.
