January 3, 2006
After weeks of snowfall and then warm rain, the Sierra is finally seeing the white stuff start to pile up ” and more is on the way.
The National Weather Service has issued a snow advisory from 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to 10 p.m. above 4,000 feet. Between 4 and 7 inches of new snow is possible.
Sunday through Monday saw anywhere from 1-2 feet of snow at Lake Tahoe, ski resorts reported.
A snow advisory means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads, limited visibility and use caution while driving.
Meanwhile, residents along the north shore of Lake Tahoe were urged to conserve electricity as utility crews tried to repair transmission lines that left about 10,000 customers in the dark through the weekend.
