More snow possible over weekend

Winter may not officially start for a few more weeks, but it’s definitely begun in the Tahoe/Truckee area.

Wednesday’s snowstorm in Truckee was estimated to leave between 4 to 8 inches below 7,000 feet by Thursday morning, and as much as a foot-and-a-half of new snow above 7,000 feet -welcome powder for area ski resorts, which had started to see their thin bases disappear after Thanksgiving weekend.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service was calling for a slight chance of more snow through the weekend, with temperatures remaining in the upper 40s with lows in the mid 20s.

Long range forecasts call for the week of Dec. 3-8 to be mostly sunny, with a chance for snow showers on Monday and temperatures remaining cooler.
