More snow tonight into Thursday then clearing

LAKE TAHOE ” Tahoe-Truckee residents will have one more opportunity to shovel fresh snow as a weaker and milder weather system brings light snow to the area tonight into Thursday morning.

Highs today are forecast to rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s around the lake under partly cloudy skies with a mild southwest wind of 10 to 20 mph blowing in the afternoon.

Light snow is predicted to begin this evening with accumulations of an inch or two possible at lake level and around 3 to 6 inches above 7000 feet by Thursday afternoon. Lows tonight will drop into the lower to mid 20s or about 5 to 10 degrees above normal due to clouds and wind.

Snow will mix with rain showers by Thursday afternoon at lake level under a moist and mild flow off the Pacific. Highs on Thursday will reflect this mild flow with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s at lake level and southwest winds gusting to 60 mph along the Sierra crest.

High pressure is forecast to rebuild over the area Thursday night for a return to dry conditions into the coming weekend.
