More time to comment on Truckee River agreement

Staff ReportsThe deadline for comments on the environmental document for an agreement that will govern water flows and water levels in the region’s rivers, lakes and reservoirs has been extended to Dec. 30, 2004.The Truckee River Operating Agreement will enhance water levels for threatened and endangered fish, increase drought protections for the Reno area, and boost recreational opportunities and water quality in the Truckee River Basin, according to the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.The agreement will also set a permanent water allocation between California and Nevada for water in the Lake Tahoe, Truckee River and Carson River basins.For additional information, or for a copy of the revised draft environmental document, contact Kenneth Parr at 775-882-3436 or Michael Cooney at 916-227-7600.
