Motorcycle crash kills Truckee resident

A motorcycle accident ended with a fatality in Truckee Thursday evening.

Truckee Police officers responded to a reported solo motorcycle accident on China Camp Road in the Gray’s Crossing area, at 7:45 p.m., according to a department press release.

On arrival officer’s initiated life-saving efforts, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene by Truckee Fire Protection District medical personnel, according to the release.

The name of the rider has not been released, pending notification of relatives by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, but Lt. Harwood Mitchell of Truckee Police said the person had recently moved to Truckee, and was a local employee.

Mitchell said the motorcycle was a small scooter or moped-type bike.

The police department’s collision investigation team is currently investigating the crash, but no other person or vehicle is believed to be involved.
