N. Shore roads open during Tahoe bicycle event

Cyclists participating in Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride will hit the road on Sunday morning, causing some early road closures in South Lake Tahoe, but congestion isnt forecast for Truckee or the North Shore.The only scheduled road closure will be on northbound Highway 89 from Spring Creek Tract to Inspiration Point on the South Shore from 68:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Stewart. Southbound Highway 89 will be open all day.Americas Most Beautiful Bike Ride Lake Tahoe, now in its 15th year, is an around-the-lake ride that will attract nearly 3,000 participants. The event promotes Lake Tahoe Bikeway, the plan to build and connect bike lanes and trails around Lake Tahoe, and is the final event for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Americas National Team In Training program.
