Nevada County ranks 17th in median income

Nevada County ranks 17th in the state in median income and 22nd when joint tax returns are calculated, according to a report released by the California Franchise Tax Board.

According to 2006 tax returns, the median income in the county is $37,468 for individuals and $63,941 for those who file joint tax returns.

Like the state as a whole, Nevada County has seen a steady increase in income since 1999 when the median income was $29,950 for individuals and $51,192 for those who filed joint tax returns. In that year, the county also ranked 17th and 22nd respectively in declared income.



Marin County topped the list with a median income of $51,720 for individuals and $116,626 for joint returns. Imperial County was ranked last at $23,557 and $37,582.

California has 58 counties.
