Nevada County residents can get emergency information via cell phone

TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; Nevada County residents can get emergency information via cell phone from the county with a new program called CityWatch.Nevada County residents both inside and out of Truckee can sign up to get calls, voice over IP messages, text messages or e-mail from an automated system alerting them of wildfire or other natural disasters, evacuation orders, safety alerts or missing person alerts, according to Nevada County.Residential and business phones using ATandamp;T or a local cable company are already accessible via City Watch as part of the public safety data base, but to get cell phones included, people can go to http://www.mynevadacounty.com/oes.To learn more about the system, go to http://www.citywatch.com, or contact Nevada County Office of Emergency Services at oes@co.nevada.ca.us or at (530) 265-1515.
