Nevada County wreck leads to DUI charge

Authorities said a motorist was intoxicated Tuesday night when she collided with another vehicle, sending it into a ditch and its driver to the hospital.

Anastasia Torres, 40, of Grass Valley, faces a charge of DUI causing injury in connection with the 6:20 p.m. wreck on Rough and Ready Highway, north of Highway 20 in Penn Valley. Held on $75,000 in bond, Torres remained Wednesday night in the Nevada County Jail, reports state.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Torres was traveling south on Rough and Ready Highway as Christian Nasralla, 40, of Grass Valley, was driving north. Torres’ 1997 Mercedes E320 crossed the double yellow lines, colliding into Nasralla’s 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The Toyota then went into a ditch and overturned.

Officers determined Torres was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested, reports state.
