Nevada reporting first case of swine flu

RENO, Nev. (AP) ” A Nevada health official says the first case of swine flu has been confirmed in a person in the Reno area.

Nevada Health Division spokeswoman Martha Framsted said state laboratory officials received lab results Wednesday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing that a patient in Washoe County has the disease.

Framsted wouldn’t release any other information about the patient, who she says is “recovering well.”

A Washoe County health official didn’t immediately respond to a telephone message.

A CDC spokeswoman in Atlanta says Nevada joins Arizona, Indiana and Ohio with newly confirmed swine flu cases.

She says that brings the total number of cases in the U.S. to 91 in 10 states, including a child who died in Texas.
