New candidates for West Shore Association

There are five new candidates running for three open seats on the West Shore Association Board of Directors.In the last year or so, the business association has had more exposure, said Rob Weston, the board treasurer, which has more people in the community stepping up to take on a position on the board.The five candidates include Collier Cook, the director of outreach and public relations with Homewood Mountain Resort; Gary Chaney, the owner of Chaney House and the president of the B&B Association; Keith Fields, part owner of Obexers Boat Company; Marynell Hartnett, with Tahoe Real Estate Group; and Ralph Silverman, California Chris Craft owner.The last meeting was Aug. 17 and had the best turnout of recent meetings, with almost 30 people, said Weston. Each of the five candidates gave a brief statement.Voting will be by written ballot, as required for such nonprofits, said Weston. Dues are $75 and only current members can vote.The ballots will be counted at the regular West Shore Association meeting, held the third Thursday of every month at 8 a.m. at Granlibakken.
