CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. — The Crystal Bay Casino, in conjunction with Classical Gala West, is kicking off a new monthly series of acoustic seated shows this week in the Red Room.

“Our goal is to present some of the finest acoustic musicianship in an intimate atmosphere,” said casino manager Bill Wood. “With a Gamble DCX console and Meyer sound, every nuance should be enjoyed during the shows.”

The first presentation, set for Thursday, Sept. 10, will feature the Jason McGuire Trio, a group that blends flamenco, Latin and jazz.

Led by virtuoso award-winning flamenco guitarist Jason McGuire — aka “El Rubio” — the Jason McGuire Trio has ignited audiences since their debut in 2014.

With McGuire on guitar, Marlon Aldana on drums and cajon, and Paul Martin Sounder on upright bass, the group has already been nominated for the prestigious Bay Area Izzie Award for Best Ensemble.

These acoustic shows will be limited to 100 tickets, Wood said. There will be no smoking, no bar service, and no slot play during performances.

“We feel that there is a need for more acoustic shows on the North Shore, and together we hope to provide a monthly evening of wonderful music to all those desiring a more relaxed acoustical setting.” Wood said.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of show and are available at, by phone at 775-833-6333 or at the casino’s cage.
