SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” After some morning showers skies should begin clearing by midday as the frontal system moves east into Nevada and Utah. Daytime temperatures will be around 10 degrees cooler than yesterday with highs in the mid 50s around the Basin this afternoon. Clear skies and light winds tonight will allow temperatures to drop into the mid 20s Thursday morning.

Look for a nice day on Thursday as high pressure builds over the area ahead of the next weak low pressure system moving in the area late Thursday night and lingering over the Sierra on Friday.

Light amounts of rain below 7,000 feet and no significant snow accumulations at pass level are forecast by computer models on Friday at this time.

For motorists traveling in the Sierra during this unsettled fall weather, always be prepared for possible winter driving conditions especially over the passes.

High temperatures on Friday are forecast to be near 50 degrees in the Basin, or around 10 degrees below the seasonal normal.

Dry weather with a warming trend is expected by the weekend as higher pressure aloft rebuilds over the region.
