No injuries in Carson Pass avalanche

An avalanche on Highway 88 at Carson Pass Sunday afternoon caught two vehicles in its path, but the occupants were able to get out of the cars and unhurt, according to emergency crews at the scene.

The avalanche, which was reported after 3:30 p.m. Sunday, reportedly left 6 to 7 feet of snow across the roadway. The road was closed in both directions.

None of the occupants in the two vehicles caught were injured

The California Highway Patrol and Kirkwood Fire Protection District were the first responders.
