No injuries in I-80 big rig accident

An eastbound big-rig went over the edge of Interstate 80 this morning between the Soda Springs and Boreal exits.

California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Skeen said the driver was not injured, and a tow company, the Truckee Fire Protection District, the California Department of Fish and Game, and CHP were working to upright and recover the truck.

Fish and Game was involved because of concerns about diesel fuel getting into a local pond, Skeen said.

Information on exactly when or why the accident occurred was not yet available, but should be this afternoon, Skeen said.

“This accident is property damage only,” he said. “We are just concerned with trying to get the load.”
