No one was hurt today in an apartment fire that burned the upstairs portion of a single unit in a six-unit complex at 424 Deer St. in Kings Beach.
A teenage girl was home at the time of the blaze, which authorities are calling an “accidental fire,” according to North Tahoe Fire Protection District Chief Duane Whitelaw, who was at the scene. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.
The fire was reported at 1:49 p.m.
The fire was contained to the single apartment, though residents in the other five units were evacuated when firefighters arrived at the scene. A pet cat that lived in the burned apartment was unaccounted for Monday afternoon.
