North Tahoe fire announces award winners

TAHOE CITY “-The North Tahoe Fire Department recently held its annual Awards and Promotions Ceremony at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach California. The following awards were presented:

The Firefighter of the Year award was given to Captain Alan Whisler;

The EMS Excellence Award was presented to Firefighter Paramedic Steve McNamara;

The Field Save Award was presented to:

Firefighter/Paramedic Steve Casella, Firefighter/Paramedic Julie Osburn,

Firefighter/Paramedic Jamie Sheppard, Firefighter Paul Joslin, Firefighter Nicole Paynter, Acting Captain Kim Vail.

The following personnel received Length of Service Awards:

5 years: Firefighter/Paramedic Jamie Sheppard, Firefighter Scott Baumgardner, Firefighter Peter York.

10 years: Firefighter/Paramedic Jamye Stowell.

15 years: Acting Captain Kim Vail.

20 years: Captain Toby Gunning, Captain Russ Martin.

The following personnel were honored as retirees: Captain Bill Atchley, Firefighter Dirk Schoonmaker, Administrative Specialist Kip Cross.

The following personnel were promoted: Scott Sedgwick to Captain, Joan Noble to Administrative Assistant II.

The following personnel were sworn in as new employees: Firefighter Mike Jacob, Firefighter John Farrell, Forest Fuels Manager Stewart McMorrow.
