North Tahoe grad leading college team

Bobby Habeger, a 2003 North Tahoe High grad and senior baseball player at Grand View College in Des Moines, Iowa, was selected Tuesday as the Midwest Collegiate Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

The Vikings went 5-0 the previous week behind Habeger, who hit .571 with 16 hits, 12 runs, four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 16 RBIs.

After graduating from North Tahoe, Habeger red shirted at Cabrillo Junior College in Santa Cruz before transferring to Monterey Junior College, where he received a scholarship and played one year.

Now a senior at Grand View, Habeger has helped lead his team to a 13-5 record in MCC league play and 20-15 overall.
