North Tahoe softball runs into stiff competition

The North Tahoe High softball team dropped four games in the Douglas JV Tournament this past weekend.

The Lakers, a new member of the Northern 2A, played Carson City, Spanish Springs, Fallon and Reed ” all competitive Northern 4A programs.

Hillary Stoner and Christina Lane each pitched two games apiece, with each recording four strikeouts. The two juniors also led the way offensively, each going 4-for-9 at the plate. Shea Mesa was 3-for-9 in the tournament.

“We battled, but errors killed us,” said North Tahoe coach Richard Mesa, adding that the Lakers are still fine-tuning their defense after a snowy start to the season.

The coach said the Lakers had their best hitting game against Fallon, as the team batted .409 in the contest.
