Northstar mountain bike park opening more trails
Northstar-at-Tahoe will be opening the upper mountain of its bike park via the Tahoe Zephyr Express lift beginning Saturday.
Vista Express will follow later in the month, depending on snow melt.
The bike park will continue Saturday and Sunday operations from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. until Friday, June 20, when it will open for daily operations until Labor Day Weekend.
After Labor Day the bike park will go back to weekends-only through Oct. 5.
Starting Saturday, the park will have 17 trails open off Tahoe Zephyr. They are in addition to the eight trails that have been open from the mid-mountain down.
The lower section of the Vista complex will be open to riders who want to traverse across, but the Vista lift will not be turning.
Daily ticket prices are $35 for adults and $20 for children ages 12 and under.
Also returning for the season is the Downhill Mountain Bike Race series, which will kick off on June 15 at 11 a.m. Registration is $30 and will be held from 8 a.m.-9:45 a.m. in the Village at Northstar the morning of the event. Racer lift tickets are $30 (must have proof of registration). Lifts open to competitors at 9 a.m.
