Andrew Lewis

1960 – 2016

With a heavy heart we say farewell to Andrew Lewis, who passed away suddenly from a severe allergic reaction to a yellow jacket sting. Andrew was camping north of Truckee, doing what he loved, when a bee stung him on the lip.

Andrew was born in Chicago and grew up in Sacramento. He developed a passion for climbing, and moved to Yosemite where he met his wife Julie. In 1983, they moved to No Tahoe and worked at Northstar. A true Tahoe local, he worked in the ski and construction worlds, most recently working at Royal Gorge.

Andrew was a free spirit and lived life for the moment. He was a very generous and giving person, a true friend who remained positive. His passion for the outdoors showed as he continued to climb, bike, ski, backpack and do all adventures the outdoors had to offer.” He was most proud of his two sons, Cody and Conner, who have also become climbers and musicians like their Dad.

Andrew is survived by: his father, Richard; sister, Veronica; and sons, Cody and Conner, who lost their mom, Julie Lewis, just 6 months ago. An account is set up at gofundme.com as “The sons of Andrew and Julie Lewis” to help the boys with the loss of both parents and their home.

Please join us for a Celebration of Andrew’s life at Royal Gorge Lodge on Saturday, Oct.15 at 2 pm. We ask that you please bring a dish to share.
