Chat Austin Graves August 7, 1953- February 3, 2020 We lost an amazing and compassionate man whose smile brightened our days. Chat Austin Graves (Truckee) passed away suddenly on February 3, 2020 at the Palo Alto VA Hospital in CA; he was 66 years old. Chat was born on August 7, 1953 in Bakersfield, CA and is preceded in death by his parents, Betty (McCaslin) and Archie L. Graves, and his older brother, Allen L. Graves. He is survived by his sister, Darcel (Graves) Pecyna and by Sue Anzelc, the love of his life for 29 years. He will be missed by Sue’s children, Jeremiah Anzelc and Tessah (Anzelc) Tozer, and their families. Chat graduated from Cabrillo High School in Lompoc, CA in 1972, and after a stint in the US Navy, he moved to Truckee over 45 years ago. He loved being around nature and animals; when he was young he raised homing pigeons and later on became a bull rider. For the past seven years he was the caretaker of property owned by Charlie and Mary Jones of Squaw Valley. Chat thought the world of them and they became dear friends as well. Chat was a gentle, kind and loving man with a great sense of humor. His passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts; we will always love and miss him.
