Dannie R. Grandfield

04/30/1948 – 10/13/2016

Dannie (“Grannie”) finally lost his courageous 28 year battle with cancer in the early morning hours of October 13. He died peacefully at home in Agate Bay with his wife Jacqui and beloved dog Sam by his side. Dannie was loved by many around the world for his kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity. As the bartender/manager of the “Hippie Bar” in Garmisch, Germany (in the 70s and 80s), he was a well known local and part of the beginning of our big, awesome extended family. Some of this family migrated to Tahoe over the years including the Grandfields, “because it kind of reminded us of Garmisch”. In the 30 years since, Dannie has become a beloved Tahoe local and friend to all. Dannie’s greatest love in life was his friends and blended family and spending as much time as possible with them. If you were Dannie’s friend you are his family.
