Gilbert (Gil) Vegas

With heavy hearts we announce that Gilbert (Gil) Vegas, age 59, passed away on February 23, 2018 in Folsom, California. He was born on February 5, 1959 to Gilbert R. and Klara R. (Langmeier) Vegas in Munich, Germany.

Gil grew up in Fremont, California and graduated from Washington High School in 1977. He resided in the Bay Area until 2006 whereas he moved to North Lake Tahoe and stayed until 2014 before moving to Cameron Park California.

You could find Gil "catching" a game, as he was a longtime fan of the Athletics, Sharks, and Raiders. But we all know how he felt about the 49'ers and Giants.

Gil had the most contagious smile and genuine love of his family and friends. He brought his sense of humor and love of people everywhere he traveled. He will be so greatly missed by his family and friends.

Gil is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Klara; his aunts, Rosemarie, Olympia, and Adela; his sister Angela; nephews and nieces Michael, Amanda (husband Justin), Nicole, and Glenn. Along with his great-nephews and great-nieces Hunter, Drew, Audrey and Brooklyn. As well as many cousins from California, Georgia, Hawaii, and Germany.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 12-3pm on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Elk's Lodge, 3821 Quest Court, Shingle Springs, California 95682.

"So do me a favor"…In lieu of flowers, Gil would appreciate any donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and ask that everyone "Play on".
