James Jay Baldwin, Sr.

James Jay Baldwin, Sr., age 56, Incline Village, Nevada, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.

Jim was born on April 13, 1960 to Loren (Joe) and Margaret Baldwin in Lompoc, CA. He married the love of his life, Susan Beatty Baldwin, on October 9, 1993. Together they raised two sons, James, Jr. (Jimmy) age 22, and Phillip, age 17. He attended Redlands High School and Riverside North High School and graduated in 1978, attended Cuesta College, Santa Barbara City College and went on to receive his B.A. in economics at Chico State College.

Jim believed in living life to the fullest, in his early years he rode bulls, was a level 3 Certified Ski Instructor at Shasta while he was in college, then moved to Tahoe and worked at Boreal, Homewood Ski Resort and Diamond Peak. He loved participating in musicals and Star Follies and was also a singer and guitar player for the local band 6Pac; Johnny Cash songs were among his favorites. He was a general contractor in the Tahoe/Truckee area for over 20 years.

Jim loved spending time with his family and sharing his athletic, music and artistic talents with them. He enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing, singing, playing the guitar & bass and going to the spa with Susan. He loved being with his sons whether it was for a music performance, swim meet or freestyle mogul competitions. He was so proud of the young men they had become. He was always enthusiastic about taking on a building project and creating a beautiful home for his clients. Jim was generous with his time as a volunteer, singing in the church choir, TAMA, Cymbal, announcer at his son’s ski competitions, Star Follies, building haunted houses, to playing for local charities such as Relay for Life.

Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Beatty Baldwin, his sons, James Jr. (Jimmy) and Phillip, his mother Margaret Baldwin, sister Joanne Thompson and her husband Harry of Goleta, CA, brother Robert (Bob) Baldwin of Littleton, Colorado, 26 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and countless friends. Jim was predeceased by his father, Loren (Joe) Baldwin, sister in law Ruth Beatty Cousino, mother-in-law, Teresa Beatty, Aunt, Sally Baldwin, Uncle, Robert Baldwin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi, 701 Mt. Rose Highway, Incline Village, NV.
