Obituary: Bruce Gerald Summers

Bruce Gerald Summers (born on February 14, 1930 in Sacramento, CA) passed away peacefully early Friday morning, March 18th, at his winter home in Quail Creek community south of Tucson. At his side were his three children.

Bruce, a longtime resident of both Tahoe City and Santa Cruz, will be remembered by family and friends as a committed husband, loving father and serving member of both community and the armed services where he served in the United States Navy.

Bruce was raised in Orinda, California, and graduated from San Jose State University with an engineering degree before serving in the US Navy, where he retired as commander from the reserve. Bruce had a successful career of over 30 years with Granite Construction Company as Safety Director. Bruce also served as local recruiter for the United States Naval Academy.

Bruce Gerald Summers is survived by his sisters Anne and Jane Summers, his daughter Sandy and his two sons Scott and Bruce, their spous-es, five granddaughters and two grandsons.

A celebration the of life for Bruce and Mary, who preceded in passing this last November, will be held with family and friends on June 19th at Lake Tahoe.
