Obituary: Mary Jo Horn

Mary Jo was a longtime homeowner at Donner Lake. Born September 16, 1921 in Greenwich, CT, raised in Coalinga; she attended business college; enjoyed living & working in San Francisco before marrying Virgil Horn and moving to San Jose in 1953.

Mary Jo was matriarch of Happy Hills Horse Ranch near Mt. Hamilton, where she passed peacefully at the age of 93 on November 26, 2014.

She was proud of her Truckee family, visiting frequently to spoil her grandkids. She became a familiar face to ‘Mommy & Me’ friends, attended 8th Grade and High School graduations for her family. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband Virgil in 1995 and her daughter Jennifer in 1976.

Survived by: son & daughter-in-law Mike & Sandy Horn, grandchildren Michele, Scott, Shannon & Marni Horn of Truckee, daughter Janice Horn Isasi of San Juan Bautista, daughter & son-in-law Patricia Anne & John Young of San Jose, 4 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, 3 GG Grandchildren & countless nieces & nephews.

Donations may be made in her name to Wounded Warriors. Services to be held December 7 at 11:00am, 471 E. Santa Clara St, San Jose.
