Obituary: Sherman Sherwood Conrad

Sherman Sherwood Conrad passed peacefully on December 21, 2014, in Los Angeles County, CA, surrounded by family.

He was 89 years old, a native of West Virginia, the eldest of 6 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife Vada, 3 daughters Diana Klein, Jane Bridges, and Pamela Gabriel, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Mr.Conrad was a veteran serving in WWII, the European theater and the Korean crisis. He advanced to the rank of Master Sargent in the US Army and was awarded a Bronze Star. He moved his family to southern California after the wars, in the early 1950's, where he remained the rest of his life.

He was a sports enthusiast, an avid walker, enjoyed bowling, golfing, and visiting people. He always enjoyed driving and would often venture across the country on family vacations. He also regularly visited Truckee, CA, where the beauty and friendliness reminded him of his youth in WVA.

Mr.Conrad began his working career as a coal miner in WVA and ended it as chief electrician for Los Angeles County Sanitation District. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Downey. He was a good man of fine moral fiber and a proud American. He will be dearly missed.
