Obituary: Beverly Wilson

Beverly Wilson, 90, passed away May 29, 2012 at home in Nevada City. Services will be Friday, 6-8-12 at 2 p.m, Nevada City Methodist Church, conducted by Reverend Don Baldwin.She was born 10-8-1921 in Los Angeles to Howard andamp; Violet Reed. She grew up in Beverly Hills enjoying body-surfing in the Pacific. She had a son, Anthony Smihula, with first husband Victor. Moving to Truckee in 1947 she met her husband of 50 years, Judge Fosten Wilson. They had a son Fosten.Beverly was active in the Truckee Methodist Church and loved singing. She sang at the ceremony when the Olympic Torch came to Truckee en route to the 1960 Olympics at Squaw Valley. She became an insurance broker, then in the job she loved, spent 19 years as a Tahoe National Forest fire lookout.Survivors include sisters Virginia Dimmitt andamp; Ruth O’Connor; sons Anthony Smihula (Maria) andamp; Fosten Wilson (Kathy McCreery); grandchildren Beverly Kim, Cecilia, Maria, Neva, Ron, Sergio, andamp; Steven; andamp; numerous great-grandchildren. Beverly was predeceased by husband Fosten, sister Phyllis Harrer, andamp; Grandson Tony, Jr.
