Beloved Catherine Everett-Hyde, 50, lost her vigilant fight against cancer Friday, March 12, 2010 at 8:15 p.m. Her amazing will to beat the odds was remarkable and courageous.

Catherine was born on December 27, 1959, in New Port Beach, Calif. She graduated from Dos Pueblos High School, Goleta, Calif. She earned a Bachelor degree in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Sociology, and a Multiple Subjects Elementary Teaching Credential in 1984 from University of California, Santa Barbara.

Catherineand#8217;s teaching career began in 1985 with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. She was fiercely devoted to teaching children and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Catherine also contributed to raising the quality of educational standards by coaching beginning teachers and by modeling high standards for professional development. Additionally, Catherineand#8217;s life should be remembered by her intense love for family, friends, horses and animals. Catherineand#8217;s spirit and passion for life will live on in everyone that she touched.

Catherine is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Danny Hyde and two daughters Madeline Claire and Danielle LeVan of Tahoe City, Calif.; her mother Suzanne Zerbe-Erickson of Durango, Colo.; father Athanas Lolov of Sofia, Bulgaria; sister Elizabeth Lolov Zerbe-Russo of Virginia Beach, Va.; and brother Christopher Lolov Zerbe of Santa Barbara, Calif.

A memorial celebration will be tentatively held May 22, time and location TBA.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions in Catherineand#8217;s honor to be directed to the Bank of the West, savings account No. 015292508, for the educational benefit of Madeline Hyde and Danielle Hyde, payable to Danny Hyde.
