Obituary: David James Intorf

After a long illness, David Intorf died peacefully at home, on Friday, April 13, 2012, under hospice care.The Intorf family moved to Tahoe in 1965, and David attended Tahoe and Truckee schools. After a year of traveling around Europe, ( one he called the best of his life), he attended Humboldt State University and later earned a degree in Documentary Film Making from New York City College. He lived in New York for nineteen years.David returned to Tahoe twenty years ago. He was a long time employee of Granlibakken Resort and Conference Center, and relished the contact his work gave him with great minds from around the world.David loved the mountains and Lake Tahoe, and was often seen with his beloved dog, Buffy, at the Lake Forest Island dog beach. He rarely missed yearly trips up into Blackwood Canyon, and called close friends when the camus lilies and monkey flowers bloomed in Skylandiaandamp;#8217;s wetland meadow.In accordance with his wishes, and consistent with his generosity, Daveandamp;#8217;s body went to the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine.He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Intorf of Tucson, sister Joan Intorf-Fox of Santa Rosa, and nephew Dylan Intorf of Fountain Hills, Arizona. He joins his father, Arnold, brothers Philip and Robert, and niece Heather, who preceded him in death.The memorial service will be private. Donations may be made in his name to Tahoe Forest Hospice.
