Obituary: Erik Arnold

Erik Arnold, real estate agent, father, sailor and surfer passed away at his west shore home on Thursday, May 13, at the age of 40 surrounded by his family. Erik Arnold was born in San Francisco and raised in Moraga and Lake Tahoe.

He was a proud Campolinda Cougar and helped earn the state football title his junior year. Erik attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he formed strong bonds with his Sigma Nu fraternity brothers and played guitar and sang in a successful college band called Sam and The Butchers. Graduating with a business major, he then moved to the beloved west shore of Lake Tahoe where he embarked on a successful real estate career opening West Lake Properties with his business partner, Julie Weed.

Erik then married his wife Becky and proudly fathered Duke, 7, and daughter Ava, 5. Erikand#8217;s passion for Lake Tahoe and the west shore was evident in all that he did. An avid waterman, Erikand#8217;s love for sailing only rivaled his love for surfing on the central coast of California. He will be missed at both the starting line, the lineup and the Snowfest! parade where he played on a float for the past decade with his band. After a lengthy and courageous battle with melanoma, we ask all to remember to protect yourself and wear sunscreen to all your outdoor activities.

Services for Erik Arnold will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Chambers Landing beach. In lieu of flowers, well wishers are encouraged to make donations to the Erik Arnold Memorial Fund to help defray the mounting costs of medical bills and establish an education fund for his children. Donations can be made to El Dorado Savings Bank at (530) 583-3718.
