Obituary: Gary Pedersen

Friend and longtime member of the Squaw Valley USA family passed away Feb. 5, at his home in Donner Lake. So many of our lives were touched by Garys unique and incredible character. Over the past two decades Gary was responsible for bringing Squaw Valley mega events like the U.S. Alpine Championships, The Honda Ski Tour, 48Straight, and the Freeride World Tour, to name a few. His 19 tireless years of service to the mountain, his detection for the perfect race course, and exact timing, do not come close to encapsulating the strong-will, veracity, humor, genuineness and loyalty that were and always will be Gary Pedersen. For all who knew Gary, we are lucky. And we will carry a piece of his character with us always. His sister, Carol VanAlstine of Sacramento survives Gary. A service for Gary will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Olympic Village Inn, Squaw Valley, USA. Arrangements in care of Truckee-Tahoe Mortuary andamp; Crematory.
