Obituary: Goode, Lena Besio

Lena Goode died on Friday, Feb.14 at age 90. Born Jan. 16, 1913, in Truckee, Lena spent her childhood and young adult life in Truckee. She had been a Woodland, Calif., resident, moving from Hanford in 1945. Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Clair of Woodland; daughter Goode, of Woodland; foster son, John Romankiw of Woodland; granddaughter, Susan Goode Stevens of Ojai, Calif.; grandson, Dan Goode of Hanford, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren. She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her son, Denver Goode; baby daughter, Susan Goode; sister Rita Orotz and brothers, Anthony and Angelo Besio. Lena was a wonderful cook with many old world Italian recipes and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. The family requests memorials be directed to Save the Children, Sierra Adoption Centers – anything that has to do with the betterment of children.
