Obituary: Grace Diane Hub
Grace Diane Hub, 77, passed peacefully at home on Nov. 21, 2012, with her family at her side. She was born in Portland, Oregon on March 24, 1935. A resident of Tahoe City since 1969, Diane loved traveling into the mountains on any means of conveyance, as long as it was powered by the heart and limbs. Her love of outdoor challenge was legendary among friends. She skied, mountain biked, road biked and hiked all over Lake Tahoe and the Eastern Sierra, as well as in Colorado, Oregon, and Europe. For 30 years she taught skiing at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort.
Diane was passionate about water. She gathered with friends every April in Maui to windsurf and bicycle. And she loved the sunlight of the mountains, which she captured in her plein air oil and watercolor paintings, collected widely by friends and art appreciators.
Diane is survived by her husband, Otto, and three children, Blake, Derek and Leslie, as well as by her grandchildren, Maggie, Rachel, Riley and Teeny, and her dogs, Vickie and Dolce.
A memorial will take place at Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area, 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area, the Human Society of Truckee-Tahoe or Eastern Sierra Land Trust.
Just 70 days after closing for last season, it’s snowing again, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows reported Monday.
